It's the pits. It really is - and sometimes I think an agent can actually take a deal falling through harder than the client. We are invested in you, and your happiness makes us happy. And when it doesn't work out, we feel that too.
I tell my clients to expect different scenarios, I try to prepare them for the different outcomes when negotiating an offer and especially during the option period.
And we can predict, and try to prepare, but at the end of the day somethings are just out of our control. And deals do fall apart.
However, I think the most important thing I can impart to myself and my clients in these situations is to not lose hope!
I very sincerely believe that when a door closes, a window (who knows, could be a bay window!) opens and that there is a reason some things don't work out the way we like at first.
Robert G. Ingersoll once said, "The greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart." And I believe when dealing in Real Estate, whether you're a client or an agent, there are times when you MUST have courage. Be strong and carry on!
