Full disclosure: patience has never been my strong suit. When I want something, I want it now. I make decisions quick and I expect results quicker, but that's not always realistic. My husband tells me all the time that I need to be more patient, and I think, at least in a professional setting, that I have gotten better at doing just that.
When I'm communicating with clients I respond promptly (usually within a few minutes of a missed call or text, within the hour for e-mail etc.) and while I feel comfortable and thrive at this pace, not everyone does. Sometimes, I won't get a response from someone I'm working with for a day or two (although after 24 hours I do normally follow up through a different mode of contact) and I have to remind myself to "Stop, Breathe, Rethink, and then React (or not act)."
It isn't always easy, especially the way my brain is wired, but oftentimes patience is the correct strategy when waiting to hear on an offer or for a report back. So, for the sake of my clients I stop, breathe, rethink and then react.
I think this technique of mine comes in especially handy with Real Estate (and also with two-year-olds) and so I hope that if patience is something you may struggle with from time to time that you will find it useful too!
